My blog exist to help people discover a joy of reading and to make time to do it. I want to share what I’ve learned as someone who was a lifelong reader but then gave it up when life got too busy. Years later when I reestablished my love and bookstores began closing down around me it only emphasized it’s value. I also know the feeling of being a reader with stacks of unread books that scream out for attention. Stop feeling guilty and join a world that enhances your overall well being and knowledge plus it’s fun.
- Get Into a Reading Habit
Has life gotten in the way of your love of reading? We schedule appointments, meal plans and even the time our favorite tv series starts up again so why not time for ourselves to immerse into a book? It’s not selfish, especially in these turbulent times. When you take care of yourself you can better help others.
I’ll help you establish a routine of reading by providing tips I have learned over the years. As a planner girl I can even help out with making your planner pretty and more functional so you are even more motivated.
- Find Books That Will Interest You
Do you only rely on Amazon to suggest books that might interest you? We all know they are just trying to sell you a book and the best sellers lists often overlooks lesser known authors whose books don’t get the publicity that others do. Would you like to expand the diversity of your reads? Do you have a hobby that you’re interested in, I bet someone wrote a book on it.
One of my pet peeves is when someone asks on social media for a “good book” reccomendation. We are all so different with different expectations of what they are looking for in a “good book” so this question is a doomed one from the start. Let me help you find something that you would genuinely enjoy and be in the mood for. (that’s important too)
- Organize
Once you become a reader it can become a time sucker for reasons other than your schedule. Do you often buy books that are already in your library? Did you become addicted to ebook sales and can’t find that one book that you know you have? How do you organize your bookshelf? Keep track of your reading?
I’ll help you declutter your books both digital and physical. Lets make your bookshelf turn into an Instagram ready shelf instead of an embarassment. If your reading area becomes overwhelming guess what happens, you stop reading and I want to prevent that.
- Help people become bookstagrammers
So you want to take your book game up a level? Or maybe you saw on Instagram a book account and though “hey that looks fun” ? Or maybe you have no clue what I’m talking about but are now interested?
Bookstagram is basically when readers join Instagram to connect. Some people connect to share an interest, some people like taking pretty pictures with books, some are in it to get publicity. It has become one of the fastest growing genres over the past several years and I’ll help you learn the basics of this frontier.
- Write a weekly blog post to help readers enjoy their journey
Are you from a small town that has no readily available bookstores? Low on funds to purchase lots of books? Don’t have anyone to talk about books and secretly envy all those book clubs you hear about?
After my long break I had no clue where to begin. I did the thing that most people do and went off a best seller list and while that provided a solid choice for reading what really wound up opening up the book world was other readers and their recommendations. Human connection (even virtual) is the best way to find a book and talking about books is a hobby that millions around the world enjoy.
Lets Go.
I love reading. I want you to also but know it’s a habit that is not as easy as it sounds. In the end I believe I can help you figure out a way to blend it into your life and have fun doing it. Reading is not just for entertainment, when people are exposed to other ways of life it can help with their empathy and understanding. Reading can help you find a new career, help your kids learn colors or figure out how the stock market runs. I can travel to places all around the world or places that don’t exist. There is no end to what it can teach you when you open that cover and just start.
